The gaucho's preferred weapon was the 'facon', a one-edged knife carried in the back. Outlaws preferred a longer weapon, shaped as a dagger, like the one shown in this page. This gaucho dagger has a handcrafted handle and sheath. The handle is made of alpaca metal. The sheath is a perfect combination of alpaca metal and leather. The carbon steel blade is 20 cm (about 7.9 inches) long and was made in Argentina using traditional techniques. Important Notes: The blade is made with a durable steel composition, but it is not stainless. The blade of our knives is covered with a moisture repellent paste to ensure that you receive it in perfect condition. Clean before use. Because this product is hand made, variations in the finished product are expected.
Alpaca metal is also known as nickel silver or German silver. It is an alloy composed basically of copper, nickel and zinc.
