These are made by artisans in Uruguay and Argentina. They are sustainably and ecologically harvested from naturally grown bamboo (called tacuara in the native Guaranì language). Not only does the tacuara grow quickly, but harvesting this material doesn´t require the plant to be killed--as culms can be cut off and new ones allowed to regrow. Our artisans are paid a fair trade price for their goods (they set the price) and are also active in promoting the use of sustainable resources in Uruguay and Argentina at large.
Available with an all natural finish on the inside and polished ouside to provide that appealing organic look. Not as bright as the picture indicates, but more of a raw, nature's color look.
The holes in the bombilla are both drilled and cleaned so as to remain clog free. Slight splitting is not very typical with such small canes--but would likely not affect the use of the bombilla if it was used for drinking.
Some models will have designs on them and some will be just natural and plain.
