Wide Rim Cuias

are one of the more popular styles in Northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Part of the reason for this might be said to be the availability of yerba--as these will mostly hold a larger quantity of tea. Also the practice there is often to drink yerba mate for a long duration. A wide rim, or mouth, allows for a broad pouring pattern--not wetting all of the yerba--which allows for a longer-lasting 'mate'. An essential item for the Brazilian chimmarrao!
