Made in the USA. Mate gourds for those who wish for the most natural of tea gourd experiences. Organic certification is available upon request. Hand-braised and finished with home-grown natural beeswax. Not a one is exactly the same, each one has its own character, but every attempt is made to obtain the highest quality hard-shell gourds.

Wide Rim Cuias

are one of the more popular styles in Northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Part of the reason for this might be said to be the availability of yerba--as these will mostly hold a larger quantity of tea. Also the practice there is often to drink yerba mate for a long duration. A wide rim, or mouth, allows for a broad pouring pattern--not wetting all of the yerba--which allows for a longer-lasting 'mate'. An essential item for the Brazilian chimmarrao!
