This is a traditional style mate of larger size than most (~5-oz.) and with usually a nice wide rim for broad pouring pattern. 

The strips on each mate are made of colorful woven fabric.  Despite our desire to imagine native women weaving these strips out of natural fibers into traditional patterns as they used to... we are certain they are not.  Leathers used in these mates are carpincho, mondongo, cuero de vaca, bufalo; some dyed, some suede, some slick: the photos in most cases show these variations pretty well.  If you have any questions please feel free to request further information.  We have a wide varity, but in most cases only a few of each particular style.
