Boldo is a traditional South American tea with a strong, aromatic flavor reminiscent of mint and juniper.  Known as a liver health tonic.

*  Boldine: an alkaloid present in boldo (Pneumus boldus)  leaves... the benefits of boldo tea on the digestive system seem to be well proven.
 ... pure boldine is an expensive chemical to buy...

 You can get boldo leaves [or use tea bags] and make an extract, either a tea or a hydroglycolic extract,  and use this extract instead of boldine. According to experiments done to establish the effect of boldine and boldo extract on the digestive system, these two had similar efficacy.
